Top Five Italian Poker Players to Keep an Eye on in 2022

Italian Poker Players – Over the years, Italian poker fans have been spoiled with choice, with players such as Dario Sammartino, Mustapha Kanit, and Max Pescatori all wearing the Tricolore. All of them have won big international events, advanced to the finals of major festivals, or dominated the High Roller scene.

This year promises to be similar, not just from these stalwarts, but also from the brilliance of a variety of fresh guns breaking into the poker game. We chatted with Luciano Del Frate of Assopoker to find out his best picks for top Italian poker players in 2022.

The Top Five Italian Poker Players in 2022

Here are the top five Italian poker players you should know. Their strategy is to win big. Check this out!

1. Andrea Ricci

Andrea Ricci, a rising star in Italian poker players, had a year to remember in 2021. After winning the WSOP Circuit Main Event in Rozvadov for 246,839 euros, he went on to cash four times in the World Series of Poker in 2021. With the Italian Poker Open being the most prestigious national circuit for Italians, he inevitably won the San Marino IPO for 125,535 euros.

His first significant triumph occurred in 2018, when he took home 230,000 euros at the Premiere Million in Nova Gorica, Slovenia. All of these outcomes demonstrate this young grinder’s potential. Del Frate considers himself to be the “present and future” of Italian poker.

2. Matteo Sarais “sgrillex”

Matteo “sgrillex” Sarais is one of the top Italian poker players by online MTT player who has transitioned from the live felt to the internet streets. Sarais is a tournament grinder as well as a cash game crusher, having earned over 100,000 euros in 2021.

Del Frate’s greatest bet for 2022 is the 27-year-old, who was born in Milan. Despite not having played much live poker, he, like Ricci, won an Italian Poker Open championship, winning a 1,100-entry festival in Liechtenstein for 124,023 dollars.

3. Enrico Camosci

Enrico Camosci is another Italian internet gamer who is expected to achieve more success. He is a widely recognized regular on the online felt, having triumphed on PokerStars and GGPoker in 2021.

Camosci has previously won a bracelet at the 2020 WSOP Online and came close to winning another in the same year, so despite his young age, he has a lot of experience and is ready for another crack at a big championship.

4. Gianluca Speranza

Gianluca Speranza, an Italian poker veteran, now ranks fourth on the country’s All-Time Money List with over 3.5 million dollars in career profits. Del Frate predicted greater success for him in 2022 after he cashed in five events at the 2021 WSOP and concluded the year with a flourish, finishing third in the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic at the Bellagio.

Speranza might be one of the key Italian players at the WSOP again in 2022. Could a first World Series of Poker bracelet be on the horizon in 2022?

5. Luigi Andrea Shehadeh

Don’t just take our word for it when it comes to Luigi Andrea Shehadeh; listen to Dario Sammartino, who believes in Shehadeh’s skill. He earned 11 WSOP cashes last year, three of which were live, and is eager to return to the heights he reached in 2017-18, when he was very dominating.

During that time, he won the Italian Poker Open, the 888poker LIVE Barcelona Main Event, and a side event in the EPT Barcelona, totaling more than 800,000 dollars.
